I have a strong dislike of "open letters". It's like someone's trying to send somebody a "private" message, but wants everyone else to know how smart they are. I'm pretty sure when I send an email I don't CC it to everyone that has an email address.
The above is pretty irrelevant but I thought you'd all like to know where I stand on open letters. I know it keeps you up at night, I truly do.
So everyone's best friend
Dave Grohl has written an open letter to
Metallica, telling them not to suck, and asking for a job. I don't know about you but even
Foo Fighters have known to have sucking moments too.

Hey, it's Dave! Remember me? Yeah, I'm the guy that's been listening to your band faithfully since 1983. I bought your first album 'Kill 'Em All' from a mail order catalogue called Under The Rainbow, I think. Actually I can't remember. It was 1983 for Christsakes! But that album changed my life and I've been listening to your albums ever since (even 'St Anger'!).
I can't wait to hear the new shit, and no matter what you guys do I'll always be first one at the shop waiting to hear it. I'm sure you'll come out and blow everybody's fuckin' minds, because you're fuckin' METALLICA!
Good luck. And don't release it until it's kick-ass.
Yours, Dave Grohl.
P.S. Are you finished recording the drums yet?"
If I were
Metallica, I'd want to bitch slap Dave back into his long hair days. Then again, I suppose he
does have a point!
