my god pouts on the cover of the magazines

I know I'm a tad late with this one, but head over to theslip.nin.com to download for free the entire new Nine Inch Nails album. I must admit, if he they released a physical version I'd buy it but it's nice of him them to put it out for free, no strings attached.

I miss album artwork!!!!!

My Chemical Romance - DVD

Dead!

Yeah, I know, I'm such a fangirl at heart. Which is why I'm excited that my favourite boy band are releasing their DVD on June 24th. It's entitled "The Black Parade is Dead!" and comes in your standard DVD (either regular or clean. who the fuck gets clean versions??) or a limited edition which also has a "collectible pinewood coffin box burned with the mcr logo, 1 of 5 masks and a certificate of authenticity."

Thankfully this time around the special edition isn't as ridiculously priced as the last one, but it'd be so much cooler if the coffin was actually coffin shaped, and you got all 5 masks. Ah well. You can check out theblackparadeisdead.com for more info and to pre order. Although, I much prefer to go to theblackparade.com coz it's cool in a subtle way. Although they need to play that annoying "BEEEEP" as well. You know, to add to its authenticity and all. And to annoy the shit out of everyone. Mwahahaha.

Eyes Set To Kill

Every few years, music needs a facelift. And like a phoenix, its savior rises from the stale ashes of the newly dead scene to revitalize fans with a fresh sound. The new phoenix rises from Tempe, Arizona under the moniker Eyes Set to Kill.

Metallica - No, wait, we LIKE file sharing now!

the memory remains

It's always fun when people are proved wrong, especially when they sue people and have this "holier than thou" attitude...

Back in 2002 (I think?) Metallica were pissed at Napster (and its minions) for downloading music for free... and since the massive success of NIN (and radiohead) they're eating their words...

Lars told Rolling Stone
"We're looking at how we can embrace everything. We want to be as free players as possible. We've been observing Radiohead and Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails) and in 27 years or however long it takes for the next record, we'll be looking forward to everything in terms of possibilities with the internet."

Sure. Before they were blasting the internet and people downloading music for free, and now they're embracing it?

I guess better late than never? You can't expect people of their age to be up with all this kind of technology and the way of the future... wait a minute ... Trent and Thom are like 20 years old aren't they? Damn kids and their technology!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I'm in the process of (trying to!) move interstate and starting a new job, so haven't had a lot of time nor internet access and will probably be offline for a whole week (what the hell I'll do without it I don't know!!) from today.

Just thought I'd fill everyone in...

Metallica Launch Record Store Day

back to the meaning of..... life

Metallica launch the very first Record Store Day... wait, they still have record stores? WHERE?! I just walked past where a massive HMV used to be and it's empty.

"Record Store Day will be celebrated across the USA, as well as parts of Canada, England and Ireland on April 19th.

It will give music fans the chance to get back into the stores to discover music and hear some great live acts.
"

It sounds really good in theory, but I know I can "discover music" by sitting on my bed surfing the internet too. Still though, I wish they were doing it over here as well (Australia). It should be an international thing actually.

So maybe on Saturday the 19th in recognition of Record Store Day I'll go and hang out at one. All day. Who's with me?!

Queens of the Stone Age are on Fire

the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire

It's got to be one of a concert goers worst nightmares - fire in the house! It'd probably take me a good 30mins to realise that they weren't joking in which time I'd probably combust in a ball of flames and smoke. Luckily Queens of the Stone Age fans are a tad smarter than me, and actually evacuated when told to do so.

Also, I probably would've thought it was just stage smoke instead of a stage light overheating and emitting smoke.
"The Tasmania Fire Service commends the concert patrons on their cooperation in vacating the premises quickly, allowing the source of the smoke to be rectified and the concert to get underway without much of a delay."

Kudos to the people of Hobart for being smart, well educated, and hopefully not too pissed off that they lost their front row spot that they probably lined up for hours to make sure they got.

Link: --- - Let's ignore the fact that they called them "metal" shall we? I mean ""Stick Wit Chu" (or whatever) sucks. I should've guessed from the spelling. Pity, I really liked Sick Sick Sick.

Myspace Music Launches

myspace

Apparently Myspace has launched its new music section. FYI : don't try typing in myspace.com/music - it actually takes you to a persons profile. Granted, they seem to like slipknot, yay, but you'd think myspace would've reserved an address like that? Just a thought.

Anyone care to enlighten me as to a link for this new "itunes competitor"? I can't seem to find it anywhere. The existing music page looks the same to me.. Not that I spend every waking moment on myspace, or endorse it in any way.

But apparently "The service will offer music streaming, MP3 downloads, concert tickets, ringtones and merchandise."

Yes, because that's what the internet (and the world in general) needs. More bloody ringtones.

Sevendust Old School Style

home

The original guitarist for Sevendust has returned to the band, and the current guitarist Sonny Mayo (Ex Snot) was fired to make the reunion possible.

That's kinda harsh on Sonny. But I guess it wasn't a decision that was made lightly. And I bet there's no shortage of people that would love to hire him as their guitarist.

"Everything happens for a reason. Sonny is an incredible person and we thank him for everything. Just like when you leave home, you come back! Hopefully everyone will understand the decision we have made. God bless you all. Welcome home Clint Lowery. - Lajon Witherspoon.

He may have lost me at the "God bless you all" part, but the beginning made sense.

Note to self : DONT VISIT MEXICO

I wasn't going to say anything about it, because it's on absolutely every freaking website, but it's so stupid and discriminative and just plain embarrassing for something like this to be happening today.

To everyone who replied to all these online articles with "kill the emos!" and way too cool, well thought out sayings like that, this isn't isolated to just "emo's", it's a part of any and all minority's. And we are all apart of some minority, somewhere, somehow. Before I'd heard of these attacks I read about Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend.

I feel safer walking by a bunch of goths or emos more than any other stereotype. And yet, they seem to be a target for no particular reason. "OMG, you've got black hair! And is it totally covering your face?! Wow! I HATE YOU *bash* *bash* *bash*"

Thing is, emo's don't hurt anyone. (Except for that freaking retarded windmill dancing or whatever it is. You do that, and yes, I will hit you...) But they mean no harm. To others anyway. Emo's aren't the ones that yell out at you while you're walking past, they don't tell you to "get off their street" and they certainly don't instigate fights.

They're picking a fight on someone that they know will have no chance of retaliating, wow. They must be sooo tough. I think the worst thing for me was that some of the people responsible for this, are fellow music lovers, "metal heads" and "punk rockers" - I thought music was supposed to bridge discrimination. Not further the repulsion. I like metal, I like punk rock, and apparently I like "emo" music. So where the fuck do I fit into the equation? I don't even fucking care!

I just hope karma catches up with these fuckers and they're made an example of. There's laws against bashing up people for their sex, race or religion. There should be one for stereotypes and music also.

They should make a lilith fair of the emo world. (No, don't say Taste of Chaos already is...). As long as they have all the exits really secure so the "haters" don't have access to an emo smorgasbord.

PS. I'm soooo going home tonight and giving myself a massive fringe in support of these people.
